One day after the high school massacre in Perry, Iowa, Donald Trump expressed his “deepest sympathies” to the victims while on the campaign trail in Iowa on Friday. He then told the audience, “We have to get over it.”
To the Entire Community, We Love You, We Pray for You
“To the entire community, we love you, we pray for you, and we ask God to heal and comfort really the whole state and the pain that you have,” the former President stated on January 5 at Sioux Center. “This is something that’s very unique to your state.”
But We Have to Get Over It
Trump remarked, “That’s just horrible, so surprising to see it here, but we have to get over it…We have to move forward,” But immediately following the dismissive comments, the 2024 leader stressed, “To the relatives and to all of the people that are so devastated right now to a point they can’t breathe, they can’t live, we are with you all the way. We’re with you and we love you and cherish you.”
17-Year-Old Opens Fire at Perry High School
As students were returning from their Christmas vacation, a 17-year-old opened fire at Perry High School, the day before Trump’s statements. One sixth grader lost his life, and five other people were hurt in the incident. The shooter killed himself.
A “Senseless Tragedy”
Following the incident, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds issued a statement in which she described the event as a “senseless tragedy” that had “shaken our entire state to the core…Our hearts are heavy today and our prayers are with the Perry community,” she continued.
That Is Heart-Wrenching and That Is Heartbreaking
Karine Jean-Pierre, the press secretary for the White House, said that the shooting was “senseless…We’re just a couple of days into the new year and we’re talking about another shooting, and that is heart-wrenching and that is heartbreaking,” she remarked.
Trump’s False Claim That Antifa and the FBI Were “Leading the Charge” in Riot
Trump also mentioned January 6 during his campaign event. He made up the story that Antifa and the FBI were “leading the charge” in the riot the day before the Capitol attack’s third anniversary.
DeSantis, Haley and the Rest of the Pack Will Never Do What It Takes to Secure the Border
Trump spent the rest of his almost two-hour address criticizing Democratic President Joe Biden, as well as Republican presidential opponents Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. He also bragged about his actions to stop illegal immigration, his backing from foreign leaders, and the trade agreements he negotiated with China and Mexico while in the White House. Trump declared, “Nikki Haley, Ron DeSanctimonious, and the rest of the pack will never do what it takes to secure the border.”
Haley Has Been in the Pocket of the ‘Open Borders’ Establishment Donors
“Nikki Haley has been in the pocket of the ‘open borders’ establishment donors her entire career — and now Nikki Haley’s campaign is being funded by Biden donors,” Trump bragged, alluding to a report from last month that revealed billionaire LinkedIn co-founder and significant Democratic donor Reid Hoffman had recently contributed $250,000 to a super PAC that was backing Haley.
Haley and DeSantis’s Struggle for Second Place in Iowa
Haley and DeSantis have been vying for second place in Iowa; both have called for decisive action to protect the southern border. According to a December Des Moines Register/NBC News/Mediacom Iowa Poll, DeSantis is supported by 19% of potential Republican caucus attendees, while Haley is supported by 16%. According to the survey, Trump has a 51% advantage in the state.
Haley Would Sell You Out and Grant an Amnesty to Biden’s Illegal Aliens
Haley was Trump’s UN ambassador. “She opposed my border wall,” the former President stated. “She denounced my strict border regulations. Additionally, she betrayed the Republican Party in 2016 by supporting Barack Obama in his opposition to the Trump visa ban. “Nikki Haley would sell you out and provide an amnesty to Biden’s illegal aliens her very first week.”
They’ll Betray You Just Like They Betrayed Me
Haley told the Register on Friday that erecting a wall at the border between the United States and Mexico was insufficient.” Trump said he would secure the border and he didn’t do it,” she stated. Trump proceeded to criticize DeSantis and Haley during a second rally on Friday night in Mason City, calling them unfaithful on several occasions. Concerning his two opponents, Trump declared, “They’ll betray you just like they betrayed me.”
Trump Urges Supporters to “Rescue the Republican Party From the Likes of Mitt Romney and Karl Rove”
He also called on his followers to assist him to “rescue the Republican Party from the likes of Mitt Romney and Karl Rove,” launching more extensive attacks on well-known Republicans who had headed the party before his administration.
The Nation’s Legal System Is Being “Politically Weaponized”
“There’s no way we’re going to let them climb their way back into power, the establishment pawns like Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley,” Trump stated. “Or even worse, Joe Biden.” In addition to lamenting his legal issues, Trump, who is accused of 91 felonies, said that the country’s judicial system is being “politically weaponized.”
I’m Being Indicted for You
“It’s not democracy,” said Trump. “They want to take away my freedom, because they want to take away your freedom.” Each time he was indicted, he declared, “I consider it a great badge of honor. I’m being indicted for you.” The former President’s accusers, according to Republican senator from Aurelia, Iowa Sen. Lynn Evans, think the accusations are political.
Why Are They Spending So Much Time on One Candidate?
“Why are they spending so much time on one candidate?” Evans stated, “They obviously don’t want them on the ballot. His opponents, who are Democrats, “don’t believe they can defeat him.”
