Congresswoman Lauren Boebert is a candidate for reelection in a new district, but the fight she had anticipated to be simple is turning out to be difficult.
I Just Kind of Think of Her as a Lowlife
Many of the potential voters from Colorado’s 4th Congressional District who recently spoke with The Wall Street Journal voiced concern about Boebert’s candidacy. In the article that was released on Monday, a voter stated, “I don’t appreciate, as a Christian, people saying they’re Christian to get your vote and then turning out to be a lowlife.” Others said, “And now I just kind of think of her as a lowlife.”
Boebert and the Chaos
Following a chaotic 2023 marked by everything from a nasty divorce to a near-fistfight with her colleague Marjorie Taylor Greene, Boebert recently announced that she will be leaving her 3rd District for the more conservative 4th.
She’s Not One of Us
Her most notorious incident occurred in September when she and a date were ejected from a Denver musical engagement due to their boisterous conduct, which included touching and vaping one another. Some 4th District voters are adamantly refusing to entertain the “family values” candidate, despite her ceaseless push to beg forgiveness for the controversy around her. “I will not vote for her. Period,” said an additional voter. “She’s not one of us.”
You Don’t Need Someone Who’s Going to Go From District to District
Boebert has offered a number of justifications for her decision to switch districts, but many detractors contend that it was a calculated move since, before to the change, her Democratic opponent was outperforming her in her third district. About the move, Weld County Councilman Trent Leisy stated, “You don’t need someone who’s going to go from district to district because they can’t win.”
This Thing Is a Horse Race
As a self-described MAGA Republican, some have also conjectured that Boebert would have thought the 4th District, which Donald Trump won by a massive 16 points in 2020, should be a piece of cake for her to win. “The idea that because [the district is] a Republican stronghold, that they’re going to nominate a fringe conservative like a Boebert in the primary is a wrong notion – this thing is a horse race,” Josh Penry, a Republican strategist, said.
